Ctrl+Alt+Del

Today came the laser cutting workshop

I must admit it went by very fast - but that's a good sign right?

For the transparent orange acrylic, I chose the phrase ''Ctrl+alt+del"

Reason behind it is simply because I get to experiment more with the symbols and the types.

I had a lot of difficulty with using illustrator to experiment with different layout, but after playing around with it, I eventually came to consensus on what layout I wanted to go ahead with:

I'm not perfectly happy with the final layout but for the small amount of time given, I feel i've done a reasonably well job as visually it looks interesting and clear to read.

Of course the piece would create great shadows under perfect light like this:

But since the letters are linked to technology - computers and keyboards, I wanted to experiment with the laser cut piece on these items.

This reminds me of when melted orange sweets that have gone though the areas and formed the letters. I love this concept as the light coming from underneath the keys shows a bright orange light on the acrylic.

Overall, I'm happy with how it turned up. I wish I could've spend a little more time on the layout and use my own choice of materials but what I learnt today will definitely make the process much easier for me next time I use it.
