WARNING: Contains very bad quality photos.

This picture just sums up how our first initial idea presentation came along. - complete disaster (in my opinion)

First thing first -

Please O' Please read the Brief. - Properly.

all 3 of us made at least one error on following the specifications when it came to presenting our first initial ideas for the logo.

Better to make mistakes in the beginning than later on. Am'Iright?

On the other hand, all 3 of us came out with various different logo ideas to represent the word 'Editing'.

Because of lack of communication between the group members, we didn't fully discuss the mission statement and totally forgot to even make one. so ...

Please O' Please communicate!

At this point of time we are just coming up with ideas to see what symbol communicates the theme of Editing. The feedback we got from tutors helped us to understand that we need to experiment and research what editing really means as at the moment only one symbol may work.

From this, we were to think bigger, expand our minds into the theme of Editing. For us we came out with ideas that involved the processes which we go through when we Edit.

Such as cutting, fixing, improving, selecting etc.

To do this, We took over the wall... With tape... Lot's of Tape....

I have to say, before this madness with tape conundrums, The group was really struggling to think BIG. Although the tape wall really didn't make much sense and connect to the theme of editing directly, It helped us relax and have a little fun - which is what we needed in order to start again and think with a fresh mind.

COMMENTS FROM THE FUTURE : (20th nov)

It's very interesting to see the feedbacks from the tutors vs the classmates as it's a very different story and this is the thing that separated us as a group.

Let me explain....

For me I think me and the classmates are all on the same level, we barely have experiences in terms of knowing what a strong symbol or a logo is. Therefore our opinions on what is strong will be similar, whereas the tutors know what they are talking about. We should take both type of opinions but respect and follow what the feedbacks are guiding us to do rather than ignore it.

But my group thought otherwise... And because of this, we struggled a great deal.

Some moved on and continued to develop further as advised to and some ignored and carried on doing the same kind of things. This prevented us to support one another and come up with consensus on the design of the logo further into the project.

This first presentation really taught me few lessons:

1. Present like you will be presenting to a client: it's a good way of getting used to presenting and learning how to provide the info as asked - LIKE FOLLOWING THE SPECIFICATIONS.

2. Communication is key: It's a little harder as we don't completely know each other properly, but projects are a great way of getting to know each other as we are all working in a group. Meeting up is better than messaging- so... MEET UP in person.

3.READ THE BRIEF. Please.: More than once will be great. There's a lot of things we missed out on with this first task and that resulted us not understanding the core meaning of the word 'Editing' and therefore didn't deliver in terms of producing a symbol which communicates the theme of editing.
